The power ascender you carry in one hand

The ACE-51 is a motorized rope ascender for work at height. It provides powered ascent and descent on a fixed working rope, under stepless speed control from a thumb lever or a remote control, and it is the lightest powered ascender we stock, at 3.5 kg without its battery.

It is intended for rope-access technicians and industrial maintenance crews who need powered ascent without the weight that normally comes with it. The machine is carried to the anchor by one person, in the same bag as the rest of the kit, and is rigged in minutes.

Power comes from a removable Bosch ProCORE 18V battery — a standard professional tool battery rather than a proprietary pack, so spares and chargers are widely available and a crew that already runs Bosch tools may have both.

The ACE-51 is the ultralight end of the range — 3.5 kg, for work where carrying the machine to the anchor matters as much as what it lifts, with a working load limit of 150 kg. Where a job needs more capacity, the ASAT ACE-22 power ascender has a 180 kg working load limit and the ASAT ACE-24 power ascender 260 kg, both ascending at up to 30 m/min. All three run on the same Ø11 mm EN 1891 A semi-static rope, so a team can standardise its rope stock and choose the machine per job.

No. The ACE-51 travels along a fixed, free-hanging working rope. The free side of the rope must not be loaded, and the machine cannot move on a tensioned line.
A separate fall-arrest device on an independent backup line, connected to the sternal attachment point of a full-body harness certified to EN 361 and EN 813. The ascender's own carabiner connects to the ventral attachment point. Anchors must meet EN 795 or ANSI/ASSE Z359.15:2014.
The machine descends manually. Press the emergency stop, switch the power off, open the manual descent lever cover and push the lever; descent speed is fixed and pushing the lever further does not increase it. Manual descent only works with the power off.
No. Stepless speed control comes from the thumb lever on the machine; the remote runs it at full speed. The lever takes priority over the remote, and each remote is paired one-to-one with its machine.
Before every use by the operator, after every use by a competent person, and a full inspection every 12 months by a competent person, recorded on the annual inspection record sheet ASAT provides.
Trained rope-access professionals. The manufacturer requires the operator to have rope-access competence — setting anchor points, double-rope systems, knots, use of a descender and job safety analysis — and to have read and understood the operation manual before first use. A power ascender replaces the effort of climbing, not the training.
